Bio

Born in Chicago, Barbara Grad continued to be an active member of Chicago’s contemporary art community as a founding member of Artemisia Gallery. An accomplished artist and distinguished educator, Grad is a professor of painting at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, where she has taught since 1981. In addition to gallery exhibitions in New York, Kansas City, and Chicago, her work was shown regularly at Bernard Toale Gallery, and currently at the Howard Yezerski Gallery. Her work is included in the collections of the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, Fidelity Investments, and Wellington Management. Grad’s many honors include fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts as well as a residency at the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Ireland. The artist currently lives and works in Wayland, Massachusetts.
